Why Read?

read books

When you read a book, what usually draws you in?

The characters?  The story line/plot?

Or is it the vivid detail that fills the pages?

Or perhaps you read a book merely for the voice of your favorite author no matter what type of story it is.

Why do you read?

  1. Firstly, I read because I love it. Why? I can’t be sure, but I think it’s because I love to get lost in the book. I feel like I’m living another life when I’m reading…I find myself thinking about the characters, scenarios, as I’m going throughout my day. I’ve been like that since grade school – my suspension of disbelief must be strong! I typically can’t wait to get home and pick up where the story left off. I like a strong story, but just as often I’m attracted because of the characters. To read a book, the only thing I insist on is that the book be well-written. I can’t stand poorly written/edited books, even when the story is captivating. Otherwise, I’ll read just about anything.
