A New Page Added

For those who’ve been asking to read some of my work, I created my own “press.”  You can access it through this page:

Only the Lonely Press

As always, thank you so much for stopping by!   Happy writing!

Finally…

NaNo-2015-Winner-Banner

Finally…my first NaNo win since 2008  🙂  As mentioned in an earlier post, I wanted to work on The Sparrow Watcher (in memory of my daddy) plus a serial fiction; however, I shelved the Watcher one since I wasn’t ready to write it and wrote the serial one instead.  At this point, it is untitled, and needs serious revision and editing; but, I plan to publish it at some point next year.

Stay tuned.

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.

The Big Move

the big move

Only a few more days left before the Big Move!

By either Saturday or Sunday, we’ll be loaded up and riding out for our three-day journey across the states for North Dakota.  We’ll have two vehicles…one of them will be loaded with over a dozen of (indoor and outdoor) cats.  What can I say?  We have a cat farm.

I’ve been to every state along the eastern seaboard, but have never been further west than that.  Yeah, I’ve been deprived.

So, this should be an adventure for me.

From May 16th till sometime in July, I will be without internet access.  I will be back as soon as I can!

Until that time, have an enjoyable and productive summer!

No Writing=Insanity + Pain

Is it really almost March?

My goodness-where did the time go?

Have moved all the boxes and most of the furniture out to the Pack-Rat pod; now living out of bins and on paper plates and plastic wares.  Hubby has left us behind to go on to North Dakota to start his new job.  My son and I need to stay with the house ’till it sells.

I hope it sells soon.  It sucks having our family separated like this.

Now that things have “quieted” down some-I can focus a little on writing.

Not being able to write for long periods has been painful.  I feel so pent-up and frustrated.  I find myself daydreaming more and more as an outlet to the “real” world.

As a writer, I need my imaginary worlds!   Without them, I’d be in a nut-house!

Wait a minute…that’s right, I’m already nuts 🙂

Turning A New Chapter In Life

Boxes and boxes and yet more boxes!

My life took another detour and a new chapter has begun.

I’m forty something and am now officially “retired” for health reasons.

Plus hubby’s new job will soon move us from North Carolina to a land far, far north of here…

North Dakota.

I’m excited.  I’m also very nervous!

As a writer, this new chapter in my life represents new experiences, new people; and of course, new adventures!

Published-The Door (an essay about death)

An essay that I wrote, The Door, was recently published in Piker Press.  The ezine has been running a theme for the month of November called-“Mes de los Muertos.”

Death.

I’ve dealt with death and losses since I was a girl, and when I saw its call for submissions, I knew I had to partake.

“The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague.  Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?” Edgar Allan Poe

A Slow Journey

I’m currently sitting at 10,013 words and it’s already more than halfway through the month.  I’ve only managed to write a few words each day, but  I’m writing.  No, I may not get to that magic number by the 30th; however, my goal is now to complete this draft by no later than Christmas.  A reasonable goal I believe and at least the journey for Snow Blood continues.

How are you doing with your writing?

The Journey Continues…

It’s day seven of NaNoWriMo, and I’m currently sitting at about 5,300 words.  Am I feeling discouraged?  Nah.  I’m on a journey.  A journey to complete a draft of this new book whether it be done during November, or December.  I’m just using this event (NaNoWriMo) to motivate myself to write as much as I can in one month.

Crazy, huh?

Nah, it is what writers do and if going crazy is one of them, so be it!  Besides, it’s better to be slightly off your rocker rather than act normal, right?

As I write this new story, Blood Snow, I will also try my hand at writing up a synopsis for it.  Once I do, I will post here.

Stay tuned!
